Taking into consideration that the artists associated with the EDA are committing their busy schedules to teaching others and taking into consideration that each and every student commits their lives, schedules and finances to us and - more impotantly - the dance;
The EDA practices universal considerations of punctuality, commitment, attire, hygiene, manners and conduct in classes.
- Some instructors have additional requirements that are to be met, and these are listed below.
Appropriate attire for classes is fitted t-shirts, fitted or stovepipe workout pants (not bell bottoms - unless you can tie them up), dance slippers/Hermes' sandals/DancePaws or socks, and undergarments that provide proper support.
Practice general hygiene and cleanliness. Wear non/mild-scented antiperspirant out of consideration of others. Keep makeup, jewelry and perfume to a minimum.
Additional requirements for DaVid's classes/sessions:
- bring a spiral notebook, a pen, plenty of water and a towel
- do not wear hipscarves, sneakers, skirts
- arrive ready to dance clothingwise, mentally and physically
- keep makeup, jewelry and perfume to a minimum
also, for programs and coaching sessions:
- bring homework slip from prior homework if any
- have your homework done and any questions you may have noted down
Curriculum
The EDA curriculum addresses the many facets of dance from initial learning, dance as a hobby, dance as a profession and dance as an art form.
Appreciating the differences in these extensive realms defined by this we divide our curriculum and activities into 3 groups divided by focus or "learning burden", or by Wazn - eastern Musical concept and the Arabic/Urdu word Wazn(weight, saturation) - meaning the weight or burden of the material being taught (within a category). You may understand this as each category having a different focus of growth in, and method of application of, dance.
