The art of music and the art of movement gives us an amazing way to explore and the beauty of dance colors people across the globe with joy and awe. Dance captivates us whether it is through rhytmic precision or weightless lyrical bliss. This privilege is what we enjoy and the excellence in dance is what we pursue at the EDA.
The EDA is an ethnic dance institution based in San Diego, California focusing on comprehensive dance education within Egyptian, Turkish, Indian and Middle Eastern Dances. With over 50 years of combined experience in the art of dance and in the entertainment business between our founders alone; we are enabled to bring unique insight to our dancers and audiences through instruction, performances and presentations. The Ethnic Dance Academy also offers specialization within our dance styles with a unique focus on professional and/or artistic level of proficiency, presentation and preservation of cultural integrity.
Dances from Egypt, the Middle East and India are an exciting way to learn more about the relationship between the body, movement, dance, music, and cultures and about yourself at any level of ability or aspiration. The EDA offers continously challenging and structured classes, stylized technique, clear instruction of relevant principles, concepts, discipline and sufficiency in dance. We keep the dance easily accessible with multiple classes, workshops, seminars and other efforts open to all dance enthusiasts.
The EDA also coaches and develops dancers with tomorrow's local, national and international leaders in dance in mind with the ability to hold their own in the commercial and artistic aspects of dance. Parts of our curriculum require an intake assessment due limited intake in observance of the strenous and demanding expectations of both our staff and our dancers.
At the EDA you are a dancer and will meet the equivalent expectations of being a dancer - nothing more, nothing less.
